Castle Combe

Architecturally, little has changed since the 15th century; there are no street lights or TV aerials and, as you savour the peaceful atmosphere and postcard views, you will understand why it has won the coveted “Prettiest Village in England” award so many times. St Andrew’s Church is worth a visit, housing a faceless clock, which is believed to be one of the oldest working clocks in the country. Castle Combe is also a favoured location for Hollywood film and television productions, having seen the likes of Poirot, Stardust and War Horse, to name just a few. As you head through the village towards the view back over the river, keep your eye out for the sweet treats or flowers, which are often for sale outside residents’ houses!

The Manor House

Situated within The Manor House estate, you can enjoy walking the grounds, play a set or two of tennis or perhaps a match of croquet. If golf is your thing, our championship course at the golf club is just moments up the road, offering 18 holes and a driving range within a beautiful setting. After all that activity you might find yourself in need of a massage, The Potting Shed is tucked away by the Italian Gardens, providing a tranquil setting for a treatment. When it comes to dining, you're spoilt for choice. The hotel's Michelin starred restaurant, Bybrook, delivers an exquisite seasonal tasting menu, or for more relaxed gastropub fare, The Castle Inn, recently awarded Top 50 Gastropub and 2 AA Rosettes, is just at the end of the mews of cottages, beyond the exit gate. All day dining menus can be enjoyed around the hotel lounge spaces and on the terrace, and you can take your pick of traditional or G&T afternoon tea, not to mention try one over the 180+ gins in the hotel bar!
