Barbecue masterclass: Surf and turf
After enjoying a welcome cuppa and pastry with your fellow classmates, your day will be filled with demonstrations from one of our talented chefs before it's your turn to cook up a storm in our kitchen garden before enjoying the fruits of your labour. Cooking on a barbecue can be challenging, getting the heat just right is incredibly important so you don't ruin quality produce by over or under cooking. You will learn about the different barbecues on the market; preparing and lighting them, and different cooking techniques you should use to bring the very best out of your ingredients.
If you always go for a surf and turf dish when you are dining out and you'd like to learn more about why this combo works so well, and create some mouth-watering tasty treats you can enjoy back at home then this is the class for you. Under the guidance of our expert chef you will prepare an array of dishes using different techniques including local Chalk Stream trout cooked on a cedar plank and steak cooked directly on a lump of wood charcoal. This class will inspire you to re-create a delicious barbecue filled with flavour when you are back home in your garden.
No need to be a cooking connoisseur here…the class is relaxed, fun, informative and interactive, suiting all abilities. Sharing a Weber barbecue between two (if you come on your own we will pair you with a classmate), we will work together through the preparation and cooking of each dish, then you can enjoy the fruits of your labour, whilst our cleaning wizards do their magic and hey presto - your cooking station ready for the next dish!
