Real Life Wedding at Pennyhill Park

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

We met on April Fool’s Day in 2015 and Andrew never knew if I was going to turn up. We met for drinks originally. However, we ended up playing bowling at midnight as both of us didn’t want the night to end!

We got engaged in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando whilst watching the fireworks over the castle – it was very romantic. During the fireworks there were many songs and one really stood out to us both and we included it as our song to walk down the aisle to. We ended up choosing Friday 13th August as our wedding date had to be rescheduled due to COVID restrictions and we thought it was funny how we met and got married on typically superstitious dates.

Why did you choose Pennyhill Park?

After looking round lots of venues, we instantly fell in love with Pennyhill Park. We imagined getting married in the pavilion with the backdrop of the beautiful ivy draped on the building and couldn’t see ourselves getting married anywhere else.

The team were always on hand to support us in our preparations whether that was via email, phone or coming in for a drink to talk to our wedding co-ordinator. On the day, we were assigned a lead contact who was incredible and made sure all the finer details were sorted, which meant that we could both fully relax and enjoy this once in a lifetime day.

Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?

We didn’t have a theme for the wedding. However, we incorporated Andrew’s Scottish heritage into it by including thistles into the wedding flowers.

How did you found your outfit, accessories and or shoes?

Andrew went to Scotland to find his traditional kilt and Ben was recommended a suiting company in Woking for his outfit.

What do you remember most about the day itself?

The ceremony itself – looking into each other’s eyes and knowing our day had arrived. Also, listening to each of the friends and family speeches during the wedding breakfast and being filled with love and tears of joy.

Were there any special moments or surprises?

The high level of service during the day and when enjoying the wedding breakfast

Our song choices throughout the day and evening

And ending the night with the traditional Scottish song/dance ‘Loch Lomond’ when everyone gathered round us both on the dance floor for a fantastic way to end our special day.

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
