Real Life Wedding at Pennyhill Park

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

We met at work, Chris had worked there for a good few years already, and the 31st July 2012 was the date I started the job, so it felt like the perfect date! The original date was 31st July 2020. With covid, we had 5 wedding date changes, but we still ended up with 31st July 2021, so it just felt like it was really meant to be this date.

The proposal was in the CN Tower in Canada. Chris’s Mum is Canadian, so it felt like the perfect way to be welcomed into the family. Even if I did have a last minute wobble when I saw how high the CN Tower was, poor Chris!

What did you love most about Pennyhill Park?

Ever since I was younger, I always used to say to my parents, I’m going to get married at Pennyhill Park, but never did I think it would actually happen! It has just felt like a dream! Jodey supported us from start to end, she felt like she was an extension of me, to just organise and finalise everything for me.

On the day, it really was a dream, but it did just fly by! I love looking back at the pictures now and remembering small parts. The venue and staff are just amazing though, and you really couldn’t fault any of it!

Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?

Not really a theme, but just classic and modern, which I know doesn’t really make sense, but I feel like it fits with Pennyhill Park perfectly.

Pennyhill Park has so much character, and the grounds are just stunning, and I feel like it all compliments each-other perfectly! The feeling I get when coming up the driveway, I just cannot believe we got married at Pennyhill Park, it really does feel like a dream!!

I am now so excited to continue visiting with these perfect memories, it will always be such a special place for us.

Tell us all about the dress...

I got my dress from TillyMint Weddings in Fleet, it is a Stella York dress, and my shoes from Rainbow Club.

The dress was a classic but elegant dress, which is also how I would describe my shoes, so all in-all – it complimented my theme and venue perfectly!

What do you remember most about the day itself?

Just being SO happy. Everything you worry about on the build-up on the wedding day, is like it never existed. Cloud 9 is really a thing!!!

In all the photos I have the BIGGEST Cheshire cat grin on my face, so think it says it all.

Were there any special moments or surprises?

Jodey was honestly just AMAZING. I can’t even begin to describe how the change in dates and the COVID-19 situation made us feel, and it has been difficult for absolutely everybody, from us, to our guests, to our suppliers, and even the staff at Pennyhill Park – it has been an experience for everyone.

That said, Pennyhill Park have treated as beyond our expectations. During the organisation, nothing was ever too much trouble, and they have been supporting us every step of the way, ensuring we had everything that we wanted. It was also amazing to see Jodey on the wedding day after going through so many bookings together and finally making it!

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and don’t worry about the small things, because on the day, it really is just about celebrating with your friends and family and making memories together.

Also, lists! You can never make too many lists and tick things off – my notebook was my bible.
