Real Life Weddings at Royal Berkshire

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

Me and Liam met in 2012 at Aston university - we were placed in the same flat as each other in our first year and became best friends. It wasn't until our 2nd year that we decided we fancied the pants off each other and decided to start dating! 8 years later, we'd lived in different countries, counties and cities away from each other but we still managed to buy a house and shortly after was when Liam proposed.

It was during the May lockdown in 2020, we were meant to be in NY on holiday so it was a revised plan! He'd planned this lovely, long walk and we had lunch on top of this big hill and that's when he proposed, it was perfect. He did well!

What did you love most about Royal Berkshire?

The people 100%.

Natalie, Rob, Cheyenne and Nigel the toastmaster we're all absolutely amazing. I didn't have to think about a thing on the day and everything was so perfectly organised and set up.

The venue is perfect in terms of layout for a wedding; amazing space inside and out that feels really private. We've both been to weddings that have been scatty, disorganised and stressful, but the Royal Berkshire was the polar opposite.

Our food was to die for and the communication up to and on the day was perfect.

Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?

Not a style as such- we just had an underlying burgundy colour scheme as it was autumn.

The candelabras were my only way to get a small amount of Disney in there without Liam noticing!

Tell us all about the dress...

My dress was satin, off the shoulder, fitted to just below my waist and then flared out into a ball gown bottom. A decent size train but not super long! I had a waist length veil that had a border of sparkle and pearls. I also had a tiara to squeeze in more princess theme!

What do you remember most about the day itself?

Just the overall happiness of everyone on the day. Everyone loved the BBQ buffet food for the wedding breakfast and the cocktail horse box. Everyone ate and drank so much and I think after a long time apart because of COVID, this is exactly what everyone needed!

The venue was so beautiful and perfect, I'm super excited to see our professional pictures.

Were there any special moments or surprises?

I'd hired a violinist to surprise our guests and my dad! No one knew except my Mum. As me and my dad waited outside the ceremony doors and he heard the violin playing my favourite Beauty and the Beast song, both of us got emotional as it was just so perfect. All the guests complimented the violinist Holly and said it was an amazing addition to the reception drinks as well.

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?

Be organised! Don't be afraid to start planning early and getting things booked and paid for.

Spreading costs and tasks out is the best way to avoid stress :)
