Good to Knows

Fanhams Hall Wedding Good to Knows
Is Fanhams Hall licensed for an outside ceremony?

Our wedding venue is licensed for outside ceremonies and we have two beautiful spaces- our Gazebo Lawn and our Japanese Tea House. A wet weather ceremony room will always be booked for you in case of bad weather!

Who are the licensed registrars for Fanhams Hall?

The Hertford Registry Office are the licensed registrars for our venue and they can be contacted on 01992 555590 or 01992 555591.

What are the venue's maximum capacities?

We can accommodate up to 120 guests for your wedding breakfast in the Great Hall and 130 in the Lakeside Pavilion. For your evening reception, we can accommodate up to 200 for your evening reception on both sides of Fanhams Hall.

How does it work with another wedding taking place?

We will make sure to keep these weddings as separate as possible. You will both have your own dedicated function manager and waiting staff. We also make sure that the ceremony times are different which means everything is happening at different times so there is no cross over! You will also have your own bar areas with signage, separate grounds and your own toilet facilities. If you wish to be the only wedding, please speak to us for further details.

Do you provide any stationary?

On the day we will provide simple directional signs for your guests within the venue so they know where to head throughout the day! All other stationary is to be supplied by you.

Can we have fireworks?

Unfortunately not as our neighbours are very close!

Do you offer corkage or allow external catering?

All of our catering and drinks are all done in house but if there is something particular that you would like- please do let us know and we’ll let you know if we can provide this for you and the cost involved.

Who can access what parts of the gardens?

If you are getting married in the Long Gallery/Great Hall, the Library Lawn and Rose Gardens are exclusively yours. If you are getting married in our Hertford and Ware/ Lakeside Pavilion our Chestnut Lawn will be private to your wedding party. The remaining areas of the Japanese Gardens, Croquet Lawn and Queen Anne gardens will be available for both wedding parties. Your function manager alongside your photographer will guide your photos to ensure you do not cross paths with another couple.

Do we have to finish at midnight?

Feel free to keep the party going for as long as possible! We’re happy to extend your day until 1am for an additional £500.  If you don’t, after midnight the bar will become a residents bar so any guests that are staying with us will be able to drink in the bar area until their ready for bed. No cash transactions will be possible and will be charged back to the guest’s bedroom.

Are we limited to your suppliers?

We recommended our suppliers as they have worked at our venue for a number of years but you can of course supply your own. Any suppliers that need to use our electricity will need to provide a PAT testing certificate and public liability insurance. We hold two Wedding Fairs a year where you can meet all of our fantastic suppliers.

Do I set up the room?

We’ll happily set up your place cards, menus, table numbers, favours and any small decorations but any flowers or centre piece displays will need to be set up either by your wedding party or a supplier please.

What external food do you allow?

We allow wedding cake, wedding cupcakes and/or cheese tower (If you do have a cheese tower we do not permit external accompaniments such as crackers, grapes or chutney but we can provide these for you) We also allow a sweet cart, chocolate fountain and a candyfloss machine. You can also have a dessert buffet to include sweets, mini cupcakes, cake pops, cookies etc. This must be supplied by a reputable and certified company please!

How long will the buffet be out for and can my guests take it home?

Your buffet will be left out for your guests to enjoy for a total of 1.5 hours. We can’t allow any food to be taken off site but we’re sure there won’t be any left over anyway!

Have you heard about our Rose Garden?

For just £30 you can be apart of our Rose Garden at Fanhams Hall by planting either a white, yellow or red rose during your drinks reception. Alongside your rose will be a personalised plaque with your married names and your wedding date! If you would like to do this, then please let your wedding coordinator know. Due to the cold weather, this can only be done from March and throughout September.

Are you dog friendly?

We have only one dog friendly room here at Fanhams Hall (bookable as a ‘cool room’) and will also incur a charge of £50 for additional cleaning. We do allow dogs on the grounds but they must be on a lead. We would love to welcome dogs inside but unfortunately they aren’t allowed anywhere that has food being served. If you would like them to be a part of your ceremony, please speak to your wedding coordinator!

How many bedrooms do you have on site?

We have 77 bedrooms in total and these come on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis so make sure your guests book early. Once you confirm your wedding date with us, the wedding suite will be booked for you complimentary (based on your package) and 15 bedrooms put on hold. To book a room, we will require 100% payment at the time of booking. For a family room, single rooms etc please contact the reservation team who will be able to arrange this for you. Guests can check in from 2pm and unfortunately we can’t guarantee an early check in. If you’re looking to dine the night prior with your Wedding Party please do contact your wedding coordinator who can discuss your options with you.
