Real Life Weddings at Fanhams Hall

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

We met in London through our friends from orchestras where we both played. When we were visiting Montenegro in the summer of 2022, we drove up a winding serpentine to the Horizont viewpoint overlooking Kotor bay. There Owen surprised Anna by asking her to make him the happiest.

What did you love most about Fanhams Hall?

We really love the Long Gallery. It’s so spacious and beautiful, a perfect place for the wedding ceremony. We also loved the gardens, in particular the beautiful rose garden and the Japanese garden. We could immediately imagine taking wedding photos there.

Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?

We had a peach/light pink colour scheme. We had the flowers, cake and bridesmaids dresses in that colour. We also designed all the printing ourselves to keep to that colour scheme. We also had lots of music throughout the day, we had a string quartet, singing pianist and electric violinist play at various points throughout the day and we also played a violin duet together during the wedding breakfast. It was also really nice to be able to play background music in the Great Hall during the wedding breakfast.

Tell us all about the dress...

Anna was looking for an A-line, V-neck, open back, floral, flowing and light dress with a long train. She started looking online for the dress straight after the proposal. She ended up trying on about 15 dresses, starting in November. She found the one she fell in love with at the studio in Bath. Very few studios in the UK had that dress available to try on and some said that she was too late as it would take 7-8 months to make and another 2-3 for tailoring. However Krystle Brides have worked with the designer for many years and were able to guarantee it would be available in time. Anna picked up her dress 12 days before the wedding.

What do you remember most about the day itself?

Owen remembers Anna walking down the aisle in the Long Gallery and Anna remembers the wedding breakfast in the Great Hall, it was amazing to see all our friends and family there together.

Were there any special moments or surprises?

We had been taking dance lessons for 6 months prior to the wedding to prepare for our first dance. We were also practicing our violin duet quite a lot ahead of time. Anna also surprised Owen by playing a violin piece with the string quartet during the drinks reception.

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?

Start planning early! Lots of things book out quite early. Think about the details as much as possible, it’s all worth it on the day seeing it all come together.
