The art of cooking: Authentic breads and pizza
After enjoying a welcome cuppa and pastry with your fellow classmates, you will enjoy a day in our kitchen filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and pizzas. With the indoor woodfired oven at the heart of the days cooking, our chef will share their knowledge of the behaviours of woodfired ovens, before it's your time to get cooking and creating.
You will learn the science behind dough and gain an understanding in how it behaves and how best to work with it. Your day will be filled with kneading, proving, hand shaping and moulding dough. Once you’ve mastered the dough it’s all about the toppings and accompaniments, for pizzas the secret is less is more. You will learn about how the balance of toppings can impact the texture and taste of the traditional Neapolitan pizza. The fun doesn’t end there; as you will head into our kitchen garden to gather the freshest of ingredients to prepare a delicious beetroot grissini dip, found on The Wellhouse restaurant menu.
No need to be a cooking connoisseur here…the class is relaxed, fun, informative and interactive, suiting all abilities. Sharing an oven between two (if you come on your own we will pair you with a classmate), we will work together through the preparation and cooking of each dish, then you can enjoy the fruits of your labour, whilst our cleaning wizards do their magic and hey presto - your cooking station ready for the next dish!
