’Tis the season for Edible Christmas Gifts

As we cosy up by the fire and let the holiday spirit take over, what better way to spread cheer than with delightful treats straight from the hearts (and the oven)?

Christmas is the season of giving, and what could be more heart-warming than a gift made with love? In the hustle and bustle of the festive season, there’s something truly magical about receiving a home-made, edible delight. Whether it’s a batch of festive cookies, a jar of handcrafted preserves, or a box of decadent chocolates, these are gifts filled with thoughtfulness and a personal touch.

Our fabulous folks over at Season cookery school at Lainston House know all about this and have a delicious Candied Orange Biscotti recipe to share with you from their recent edible gifting class. So, you can make something delicious for your loved ones or your neighbours, and revel in giving something a little bit different to a tin of shortbread.

And speaking of spreading joy through home-made goodness, why not wrap up the gift of culinary magic this Christmas? A Season Cookery School experience at Lainston House is the perfect way to share the joy of home-made goodness with your loved ones. Ready to spread the kitchen love? Candied Orange Biscotti Recipe

Makes 10-12
Total time to cook: 60 minutes

Ingredients
80g butter, 155g sugar, 2 eggs, 225g plain flour, 2g baking powder, candied orange peel

Method

Cream the butter and sugar together for about 5 minutes, until light and fluffy.
Gradually add the eggs, then all of the dry ingredients. Add the candied orange peel at the end.
Using wet hands and a scraper, shape the dough roughly into a long oval shape, then place onto a tray with baking paper and finish shaping.
Cook at 170c for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown, then slice and pop back in the oven at 100c to dry out for about 30 minutes until crisp.
Got a choccy lover in the family? Jazz it up and dunk half of the biscotti in chocolate for an extra sweet twist. Yum!
