How to make the perfect Gingerbread Reindeers

Gingerbread Mix

Makes: 15;  Time to prepare: 1 hour , Cook time: 15 mins 

Ingredients: 350g Plain flour (sieved, 100g Unsalted Butter, 5 1/2 tsp Ground ginger, 1 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon, 1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda, 175g Light brown sugar, 4 Tbsp Golden Syrup, 1 Egg and your choice of chocolate for decoration

Tools: Mixing machine or food processor, rolling pin, baking tray, parchment paper and cling film

Method

Step 1: Pre-heat the oven at 160C.

Step 2: Pre-line a baking tray with baking parchment paper.

Step 3: Put the flour, butter, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda into a mixing bowl.

Step 4: Mix together using a mixing machine or food processor until it forms a crumb.

Step 5: Add the egg, golden syrup and sugar.

Step 6: Mix all together to form a dough.

Step 7: Wrap in cling film and  chill for 30 minutes in the fridge.

Step 8: Once chilled take the dough out of the fridge and roll out on a lightly floured surface.

Step 9: Cut out desired shape or use a cookie cutter and place onto the pre-lined baking tray.

Step 10: Bake for 10-15 minutes.

Step 11: Leave to cool and once cool to the touch, decorate your gingerbread using your chosen type of chocolate.

Step 12: Let them dry and then they are ready to serve.
