Real Life Wedding at Pennyhill Park

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

We met in the challenging world of online dating. We had our first date in a champagne bar in central London in May 2018 which went so well we decided to meet again the following day for a dog walk with Marc’s family dog at Primrose Hill on a beautiful summers day.

In January 2021 we returned to Primrose Hill with our own dog, a Cavalier King Charles where Marc proposed at the top of the hill in the most perfect setting Kirsty could’ve wished for. We celebrated at home with well wished from our family and immediately began planning our wedding. Pennyhill Park was a venue we considered at the top of our list right from the start.

What did you love most about Pennyhill Park?

Pennyhill Park is such a stunning venue, from the moment you walk through the covered walkway to reception you know the venue is special. The exterior of the main building is beautiful. The interiors of the venue is pristine and well maintained.

Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff at Pennyhill Park. They all went above and beyond their roles and provided so much help, advice, support and guidance in the planning stages, on the day and throughout the whole wedding weekend. Customer service and attention to detail was second to none. The operations on the day was flawless.

The food served at our menu tasting, throughout our wedding and the breakfast served the following day was faultless and received so many compliments from our guests.

The venue space was perfect size for our wedding party of 110 guests. The library and Balmoral Suite had plenty of space and were beautifully laid out.

The wedding team at PHP liaised with our suppliers directly to figure out finer details, this was really appreciated, unexpected and took a lot of extra pressure off of us. The venue accommodated to all our requests to make the day perfect.

Did you have a theme or a particular style for your day?

‘Burgundy and Blush’ ended up being our colour theme. It was so pretty with lots of roses in our flowers.

The bridesmaids wore burgundy. Our stationary blush pink with a confetti foil theme.

Tell us all about THE dress…..

Long A line satin gown with a deep cut neck line and lace embellishment on the back. I wore a lace and pearl embellished bolero for the ceremony and a long veil with pearl embellishments.

I bought extra accessories to transform my dress in the evening however completely forgot about all of this as was having such an amazing time.

What do you remember most about the day itself?

The love and happiness in one room. Looking around and seeing everyone you love in one room is such an incredible and overwhelming feeling. Pennyhill Park provided us with memories we will treasure forever. We danced the night away with our loved ones with the flawless operations of PHP taking place effortlessly in the background.

Were there any special moments or surprises?

Our beautiful bridesmaid sung Ronan Keating ‘When you say nothing at all’ as Kirsty walked down the aisle. We wrote personal vows to each other and our childhood best friends witnessed our marriage certificate.

We used the Function Band throughout the day and they were fantastic. We danced between courses in the wedding breakfast, the party didn’t stop from the moment we entered the Balmoral Suite.

Marc’s and his family are Jewish so we incorporated 15 minutes of Israeli dancing into our wedding. Our guests were blown away by the dancing which included us being lifted on chairs and spinning around in circles.

The day after the wedding PHP organised a private breakfast room for our guests that stayed over. Our wedding stationary and flowers were laid out again and staff were cutting up leftover cake for our guests to take away. We all spent more time together in the spa into the early afternoon which was wonderful. It didn’t feel like the wedding was suddenly over.

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?

Embrace the whole planning process. Share the responsibility and make every decision together. Get organised from the beginning and request help from your loved ones who are showing a keen interest in your planning process, we found there were lots of people willing to help. Don’t sweat the small details. All will be fine on the day. But most of all, TRUST YOUR SUPPLIERS. They have your best interests at heart and are experts. Ensure they all work together, introduce them to each other in advance and let them work out their operational plans between them.
