7 ways to treat your Father this Father's Day

1. Give him a day off

Nothing will beat waking up to breakfast in bed on a Sunday morning. Treat him to a selection of French pastries, a cooked full English breakfast and his choice of fruit juice.

For the dad who likes to sleep in, why not treat him to a brunch in the garden, picnic style? Surprise him to a banquet of fruit skewers, hand cut sandwiches with his favourite fillers, dips and vegetable sticks, sausage rolls and mini pies.

Alternatively why not take some of the tasks off his to-do list such washing his car or doing the gardening.

2. Treat him to an activity filled day

Why not try zip lining, take part in a cookery course or play a round of golf? Or keep things simple by playing giant games on the lawn and walking through stunning woodlands. Activity filled days are great to create long lasting memories with your father.  Don’t forget your camera for some action shots that you can frame later!

3. For the Dad with the sweet tooth

Bake some delicious sweet treats or if your not a dab hand in the kitchen, treat him to a plate full of delicate cakes with an Afternoon tea experience. Why not surprise him with a personalised message carefully written with melted chocolate on the presentation plate?

4. For the Dad with a taste for the finer things in life

If your dad's a bit of a foodie, why not treat him to a culinary treat such as a Sunday Lunch (check out The Avenue at Lainston House, Winchester), a tasting menu experience (be wowed by Matt Worswick at The Latymer, Pennyhill Park, Surrey) or a Michelin Star meal (discover the delights of The Bybrook at the Manor House in Castle Combe).

Get him to experience the busy atmosphere and rustling of the work by the kitchen brigade as his meal is created and presented by chefs right in front of his eyes (see the Kitchen in action while you eat at The Pass, South Lodge, West Sussex).  The taste of delicious seasonal produce sourced from chef gardens and local farmers will certainly make him feel spoilt.

5. For the Dad who enjoys comfort food

Get together with friends and extended relatives over homemade comfort food that allows everyone in the family to celebrate together.

If weather permits, a barbecue will be relaxing and fun for everyone. Otherwise we suggest visiting your favourite pub - like our very own Castle Inn, the perfect place for all the dads to share a few drinks, stories and a few laughs over a scrumptious lunch.

You will even avoid the washing up!

6. For a Dad who likes a classic film

Arranging a trip to the cinema would be an obvious choice, but for a different cinematic experience, take the cinema into the scenery and join us at South Lodge for one of our Movies by Moonlight. We will be screening classic films from Top Gun to The Grand Budapest Hotel, Cocktail and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.  Don’t forget to grab your popcorn on the way in!

Delight him with a gift voucher

Still indecisive or don’t want to set a date? Spoil him to a Gift voucher that you know he will enjoy. Don’t worry if you are arranging this treat very last minute gift, get it sent to your doorstep with 1st class delivery or receive it via email to print on the day and present it within a self-made card for a personal touch.
